Havana here we are!

Well, we've finally arrived at our casa particulare.  It's 7.15pm local time, which means 12.15 GMT and I'm exhausted.  The drive from the airport gave us our first flavour of Cuba, which was pretty fascinating.  It's all very spread out and you can really see the poverty.  Our taxi-driver pointed out the hospital and sports centre to us - both looked quite run down.  The whole town needs a lick of paint.  But it's warm and there's palm trees and our hostess is amazingly friendly.  Absolutely gorgeous house with our own alarm system, so nice and secure.

What I found most fascinating was all the bill-boards we passed proclaiming various people as heroes.  Lots of pr0-revolutionary text, paintings, pictures of Castro and Che Guevara.

Anyway, I am exhausted so I'm going to unpack, eat and sleep
