We're off to Cuba

The next 20 or so posts on this blog will be an account of our trip to Cuba, 19th November to 1st December 2006.  It is written by Carolan.

Day 1: Flying Paris to Havana

Ah, the joy of travelling between two countries famed for their alcohol - we've just been served red wine and rum with our (surprisingly delicious) meal.  Then again, I suppose alcohol is a large part of Ireland's reputation too, and we weren't served any alcohol between Dublin and Paris.

We're only two hours into our ten hour Atlantic crossing and I'm already bored.  I've read the newspaper, eaten my lunch, gone for a stroll, and tried to sleep. but we still have eight hours to go.  At least, I think we do - we've changed time zones too many times so I've lost track.

We got up at 5.55 this morning, catching a 9am flight to Paris on a nippy little CityJet machine.  There's a sort of OAP tour travelling with us, all wearing silly faux-Cuban hats.  Bless.
